KGC PROJECTS AND COMMITTEES

Members are asked to participate in a Project or Committee

KEYPORT GARDEN WALK

Our biggest event of the year, which provides many visitors to Keyport. A committee formed to assist the KGW chairperson in coordinating the event. This committee shall help promote the event in coordination with the social media committee, distribute promotional signs, event welcome table, distribute maps, assist visitors, set up and take down. 

MEMBERSHIP

Assist the membership chairperson. Keeps up to date membership lists of members to include name, address, email, cell phone and type of membership. Provides an accurate email list to board members and sends out welcome cards to new members. This committee sends forms to the GCNJ and provides names of participating members for insurance purposes. Requests a check/payment from the treasurer to pay for insurance. 

TOWN BEAUTIFICATION

A fabulous group of volunteers dedicated to keeping the town of Keyport beautiful. This includes maintaining planters throughout the town and signs on the highways, watering the flowers, placing plant orders with the plant sale committee, working with the board on budgets for the plants. Many areas we maintain include are parks, public spaces, senior center, and the library.  

PLANT SALE

The plant sale committee assists the chairperson in Spring and Fall plant sales, advertising, collecting orders, helps on delivery days to receive, and sort flowers/plants, help distribute or sell to the public, engages local businesses, and helps with crafts to be sold at the sales. 

CRAFT FOR SALE

This committee works on craft projects to sell at our Mother's Day & Spring plant sale in May.


DRUMTHWACKET

A special committee to assist in the planning and decorating of the Governor’s mansion. The group gathers prior to the November meeting to prepare all decorations. A certain number from the group will be chosen to attend the November decorating event. This committee is also responsible for taking the decorations down in January. All decorations are stored in the club’s storage unit and inventory should be kept.  

CUPPA CHEER

Each month, Club members prepare small arrangements which are presented to the Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Center (Hazlet) for the enjoyment of the residents on behalf of the Keyport Garden Club. 


Fresh or faux flowers, grasses, greens, it's a creative and rewarding activity. Use teacups, jars, or any container.

FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE LIBRARY

Each month, Club members prepare an arrangement to display at the Library for the enjoyment of the residents on behalf of the Keyport Garden Club.

FUNDRAISING

This committee helps with fundraising for the KGC and KGW, to assist in fundraising events which could be selling raffle tickets, bingo, dinners, and other creative ideas the committee comes up with. 

HOSPITALITY & MEETING COORDINATORS

The welcoming committee at all club meetings and events. This committee provides refreshments at meetings and assists in welcome tables. 


A branch of Hospitality is MEETING COORDINATORS - plans meeting speakers or projects for monthly meetings, coordinates meetings and works with social media committee to promote meetings and events. 

SOCIAL MEDIA - PUBLICITY

If you like working with web pages, social media including Facebook and Instagram this committee is for you. You work with the board and committees with advertising, keeping the KGC webpage up to date.  Take pictures at events and upload to social media and the KGC webpage.  Send out emails to the club to notify members on club events. Works with membership committee to maintain up to dates email addresses. 

TRIP COORDINATORS

Plans 2-4 trips per year for the membership, works with the treasurer on a budget for trips, works with social media and membership to notify club members, collects money, and gives to treasurer.

PARADE/FESTIVAL COORDINATORS

This committee works with the board and KBBC to find out about the events, parade, and festival dates. Works with KBBC to establish a place in the event for the Keyport Garden Club. Informs the board at Club meeting and social media committee to engage member participation or organize the event.

NEWSLETTER

Works with the newsletter chairperson to gather information to prepare and distribute our monthly newsletter. 

COMMITTEE ORGANIZERS

This committee works with the Vice President to collect information from membership applications and assigns committees to each member. To seek out individuals who would like to be committee chairs to organize each group. 

GRANTS

If you like to do research and help others this committee is for you. You research grants for the club, garden walk and ESG. 

SCHOLARSHIPS

Brainstorm ideas for scholarships to be given to a Keyport youth. Work with Keyport Central School Liaison. 

SEED LIBRARY

We ask people to save seeds and contribute them at the end of the season.  We then package them, supplemented with commercial seeds, and place them in display boxes in the public library for people to come and take what they can use.  

GREEN TEAM

A Borough organization under the auspices of the Environmental Commission and affiliated with Sustainable New Jersey, a public private partnership, the Green Team undertakes activities that support sustainability in the Borough and gain points that contribute to a certification as a sustainable community.  The Garden Club provides two representatives, who are appointed by the Mayor.
