KEYPORT GARDEN CLUB COMMITTEES

Members are required to be on one Committee

KEYPORT GARDENWALK COMMITTEE

Committee responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with event planning and logistics
  • Coordinating with the Social Media Committee to promote the event
  • Distributing promotional signs and materials throughout the community
  • Staffing the welcome table and assisting visitors during the event
  • Distributing maps and providing garden information
  • Supporting setup and takedown efforts
  • Creating a welcoming and informative experience for all attendees.


PLANT SALE COMMITTEE

The Plant Sale Committee plays a vital role in organizing and supporting the KGC's Spring and Fall Plant Sales, which help raise funds and beautify our community.

Committee Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting the Plant Sale Chairperson in planning and coordination
  • Advertising the sales through community outreach and social media
  • Collecting and organizing pre-sale orders
  • Helping on delivery days to receive and sort plants and flowers
  • Assisting with public sales and order distribution


TOWN BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE

A dedicated group of volunteers, who work hard to keep Keyport blooming and beautiful all year round. Maintains planters throughout town, highway entrance signs, and key community spaces. Responsibilities include:

  • Planting and maintaining flowers and greenery in public spaces
  • Placing plant orders in coordination with the Plant Sale Committee
  • Ensuring seasonal plantings are refreshed and well-maintained
  • Supporting the Club’s mission of community beautification and civic pride.


HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

The Welcoming Committee plays a vital role in creating a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere at all KGC meetings and events.Committee responsibilities include:

  • Greeting and welcoming members and guests
  • Assisting at welcome tables during events and meetings
  • Providing and setting up refreshments
  • Helping new members feel comfortable and engaged

This is the perfect committee for those who enjoy hospitality, meeting new people, and making others feel at home. 

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

The Fundraising Committee plays a key role in supporting the ongoing success of the KGC, KGW and ESCG by organizing creative and effective fundraising efforts throughout the year. Committee members help with:

  • Planning and running fundraising events such as raffles, bingo nights, dinners, and more
  • Brainstorming and implementing new and engaging fundraising ideas
  • Selling raffle tickets and promoting events to the public
  • Coordinating with other committees to support shared fundraising goals

GRANT RESEARCH COMMITTEE

A vital part of the Fundraising Committee focuses on grant research and writing. If you enjoy digging into research, writing, or helping others behind the scenes, this role may be a perfect fit. You'll help identify and pursue funding opportunities that support KGC initiatives. Whether you love being front and center at events or working quietly behind the scenes, your talents are welcome here. This committee is ideal for those who are creative, and passionate about helping the Club grow.


NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE

This committee assists the Newsletter Chairperson in gathering and organizing content for the KGC newsletter. Responsibilities may include:

  • Collecting news, photos, and updates from committees and events
  • Helping draft or edit newsletter content
  • Assisting with layout, formatting, and proofreading
  • Supporting the distribution of the newsletter (print and/or digital)

For those who enjoys writing, organizing info or helping share the Club’s activities with members and the community.


SOCIAL MEDIA - PUBLICITY COMMITTEE

This committee plays a key role in promoting the KGC and keeping members and the public informed. Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Board and other committees to advertise events and news
  • Keeping the KGC website updated with current content
  • Taking and uploading photos from events to social media and the website

This is a great opportunity for tech-savvy members or those looking to get more involved behind the scenes by helping us stay connected and visible in the community.

SEED SHARING COMMITTEE

At the end of each growing season, we invite members and community gardeners to save and donate seeds from their gardens. These collected seeds—along with a selection of commercially sourced seeds—are cleaned, packaged, and made available to the public.

You’ll find our Seed Sharing display boxes at the Keyport Public Library and at  KGC events throughout the year. It’s a wonderful way to share the joy of gardening, promote sustainability, and keep our community growing together.


SPECIAL EVENT SPEAKERS

There are many resources available to help with planning, including contacts through the Garden Club of New Jersey, Master Gardeners, and other local experts in gardening. Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and booking engaging speakers for club event
  • Coordinating event details
  • Working with other committees to promote events
  • Ensuring a smooth experience for both the speaker and attendees

For those who enjoy planning, and helping bring valuable learning opportunities to our members.



LIBRARY FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS COMMITTEE

Monthly Floral Display at the Keyport Library

Each month, Keyport Garden Club members prepare a floral arrangement to be displayed at the Keyport Public Library—a small but beautiful gesture shared on behalf of the Club for the enjoyment of all who visit.

This is a wonderful opportunity to share your creativity and love of flowers with the community in a simple, meaningful way.



CUPPA CHEER COMMITTEE

KGC members sign up for a month, create and deliver small floral arrangements to the residents of Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Center —a thoughtful gesture that brings beauty and joy to their day. This is a creative and rewarding volunteer opportunity!
Use your imagination with fresh or faux flowers, grasses, or greens. Arrangements can be made in teacups, mason jars, small vases, or any unique container you have on hand. No floral experience necessary—just a caring heart and a creative spirit.



SUNSHINE COMMITTEE

The Sunshine Committee helps foster a warm, caring, and connected community within the Keyport Garden Club.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming new members to the Club
  • Sending greeting cards, thank-you notes, or get-well and sympathy cards to members as needed
  • Helping maintain a sense of support and kindness among members 

This is a small but meaningful way to brighten someone’s day and nurture the spirit of friendship that makes our Club so special.

TRIP PLANNING COMMITTEE

Organizes one trip per year —a fun opportunity to explore gardens, attend shows, or enjoy a group outing together. Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and coordinating an annual trip for Club members
  • Working with the Treasurer to establish and manage the trip budget
  • Collaborating with the Membership and Social Media Committees to promote the trip
  • Collecting payments from participants and delivering funds to the Treasurer
  • Handling basic logistics such as transportation, ticketing, or reservations
     

DRUMTHWACKET COMMITTEE

A unique and honored tradition of the Keyport Garden Club. Responsibilities include:

  • Gathering prior to the November meeting to plan and prepare all decorations
  • Creating and organizing decorations, using items from the Club’s storage unit
  • Maintaining an inventory of decorations and ensuring proper storage
  • A select number of committee members will be chosen to attend the November decorating event at the Governor’s Mansion
  • Returning in January to take down decorations
