The Horgan Garden

The Horgan Garden

The Horgan Garden

Louise Horgan welcomes you to tour her garden, Thyme & Tide, a secret garden and wildlife refuge between busy Front Street and the Raritan Bay. Plenty of perennials, evergreen plants, and cherished clover, thyme and forget-me-nots. There is a vegetable garden under a gazebo and plenty of room for the wide variety of birds and critters who share the space. The garden was created from a junk and weed-filled vacant lot in 2000 and has gone through a number of designs and remuddles, often driven by floods.  From the deck, enjoy the view of the entire garden, the bay, and the NYC skyline. Tour now.

The Lipman Garden

The Horgan Garden

The Horgan Garden

Judy Lipman welcomes you to her garden, now in its third year. The importance of native plants to support wildlife, especially birds, inspired the design of the garden, which is a certified wildlife habitat. There is a strong emphasis on feeding pollinators while offering visual interest. Yes, you can have a gorgeous garden which is environmentally friendly without having a lawn.  Don’t miss the now-small-but-still-spectacular big leaf magnolia (magnolia macrophylia) and the native Franklinia, a tree related to those that cultivated by naturalist William Bartram in 1777. Tour now.

The Litwak Garden

The Horgan Garden

The McNamara Garden

Mariadonna and Al Litwak welcome you to tour the gardens surrounding their 1850 waterfront home, gently sloping to the private beach.  Enter the secret garden to the ginkgo tree. Don’t miss the perennials, the fruit and vegetable garden, the Zen garden and more.  Tour now.

The McNamara Garden

The Mundrane-Tuohy Garden

The McNamara Garden

Kathleen and Dennis McNamara welcome you to enjoy the gardens around their twin brick home, built by two bricklayer brothers in 1903. The front features perennials and a rain garden with swamp milkweed and plants that have wet feet. The McNamaras employ several rain barrels and enjoy water collection. Side gardens are whimsical containers and the back includes raised bed vegetable garden and a pergola with grapes. Don’t miss the mulberry espalier and edibles in the bathtub. Tour now.

The McTernan Garden

The Mundrane-Tuohy Garden

The Mundrane-Tuohy Garden

PattiJean McTernan honors the love and hard work her late husband Jimmy put into making the garden a beautiful place to spend time. Together, they built the garden as an expression of love. It includes features that honor the family, love and peace, as well as the wellness that a garden brings - the beauty and support Mother Earth gives us. The large planters were once at the Ye Cottage Inn, a Keyport landmark lost to Superstorm Sandy. Also featured are vegetable and herb beds, roses by the meditation deck, and Brittany’s garden, planted in memory of PattiJean’s daughter. Tour now.

The Mundrane-Tuohy Garden

The Mundrane-Tuohy Garden

The Mundrane-Tuohy Garden

Kim Mundrane-Tuohy welcomes all to her 150+ year old home with a glass of wine and her smiling golden retriever, Kelsey, who serves as official greeter and tour guide.  The gardens are a mix of perennials and approximately 950 annuals planted every year.  She enjoys using annuals so that she can change her color theme every year.  One lovely area is actually not flowers, but the grass.  Kelsey loves to roll in it and we've even had Keyport GardenWalk visitors lay on it...everyone wants to take their shoes off like it's carpet! LOL. Tour now.

The Ojaama Garden

The Ojaama Garden

The Ojaama Garden

The backyard at the home of Carolyn Ojaama is made up of two patios shaded by a large river birch and an Atlas Cedar. An abundance of ferns, hellebores and hostas – some in the lovely rock garden, and many in containers - complement the beautiful trees and hardscaping.  Carolyn's son, Jim, designed and welded three large sculptures that enhance the outdoor living space. Be inspired as you enjoy the water features, perennials and welcoming natural sounds in this Keyport garden. Tour now.

The Reedy Garden

The Ojaama Garden

The Ojaama Garden

Anne Marie Reedy and her friend, Marie, have created the most visited gardens in Keyport. When when you go on this the virtual tour, you'll understand why we love when Anne Marie hosts our Keyport Garden Club parties!  Between the pond, flowers, fairies and gorgeous views of the Keyport Yacht Club sailboats and the Raritan Bay, Anne Marie's yard is a vacation destination without going away! Tour now.

The Reilly Garden

The Ojaama Garden

The Schneider Garden

Lois and Dave Reilly have transformed their property with their love of art and gardening.

Seven years ago, they purchased a blank canvas and transformed it into a whimsical garden wonderland composed of perennials, annuals, local art, sculpture, and found objects.

You'll have to look for their butterflies that were from a fundraiser for the Arts Society of Keyport.  Between the flowers and view of the bay and marshes, their yard is truly a hidden gem! Tour now.

The Schneider Garden

The Schneider Garden

The Schneider Garden

John Schneider has configured his gardens in an amazing use of space.  When you look at the front yard there is a charming blend of features both on the ground and upward!  The backyard already has a well established vegetable garden due to the greenhouse which he had built earlier in the year.   You'll find vegetables, flowers, swing, swingset and even a pool all balanced in this beautiful area. Tour now.

The Sessa Garden

The Schneider Garden

The Sessa Garden

Mark and Lisa Sessa welcome you to the gardens surrounding their stunning 1887 Queen Ann Victorian home on a corner lot in historic Keyport. The eclectic gardens feature paths and hidden places, as well as fountain, a cottage garden and a vegetable garden that promises rich bounty come harvest. Lisa’s container gardening skills are on display as you tour, and you’ll see whimsical and welcoming touches throughout. Enjoy the peonies, roses, lilacs, lily of the valley, iris, day lilies, raspberries and all the charm of a perennial Keyport GardenWalk favorite. Tour now.

The Skeen Garden

The Schneider Garden

The Sessa Garden

Lew and Clare Skeen welcome you to virtually tour the garden surrounding their 1929 Sears Roebuck Catalogue home (the Barrington model). Their favorite plants are those gifted to them by gardening friends through the years. Featuring a rock rain garden, and a wide variety of native plants, the garden was recently registered as a Certified Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. The graceful design and natural beauty of the Skeen garden is enhanced by the flower boxes on the front of the house. See the fringe tree, Thundercloud plum, crocosmia, and Itoh peony as you enjoy this lovely Keyport garden. Tour now.
